Small Business Grants from Business Victoria - Do you know where to look?

It's not just the startup-innovation sector that government care about. While innovation has seen increased coverage in Australia at both local and federal level, there's a raft of grants available to all kinds of businesses - with innovation included

Is your business a potential grant candidate?

Following the recent closures of large scale passenger manufacturing (e.g. Ford factory shutdown in Broadmeadows and Geelong) The Local Industry Fund for Transition (LIFT) has been formed. LIFT has been established to create sustainable jobs and contribute to the economic development of Melbourne's North, West and South-East and the Geelong Region. Full eligibility criteria and requirements are up on Business Victoria's Local Industry Fund for Transition. With up to $2 million in grants to support job creating projects, it could well be worth a look.

When it comes to business growth, the Victorian Government offer a range of services and grants which can help small to medium business. From Small Business Mentoring Programs to strategic planning help to grow your business, financial assistance is available if you know where to look and meet the eligibility requirements.

Just last week, you may have seen that LaunchVic announced Round Two of successful grant recipients of $4.9M. While that funding round is closed, it's worth keeping your ear to the ground for these opportunities.

While not exactly of the same nature as LaunchVic, the Public Sector Innovation Fund (PSIF) is a grants program designed to drive new, more effective solutions to complex policy and service delivery challenges in Victoria. With grants ranging from $50,000 to $400,000, PSIF support small-scale collaborative projects that test new approaches to deliver better outcomes for all Victorians. So if your business engages in the public sector, this could be a huge shot in the arm for you and your employees.
